Michigan + Florida
Benny + I head to Florida … Logan is off to Michigan
GORP, an orthodontic conference was hosted in Ann Arbor, MI this year. When I saw Logan was going to be gone for about a week I decided to head to Florida with Benny.
Tickets out of STL were insane into ECP so we decided to fly out of BLV into VPN. About an hour away from my parents house... but 1/3 the cost!
We flew out Monday, August 1 at 9 pm. I was a little nervous to fly all alone with Benson... but he did great! We played and ate snacks for the quick 1 hour 20 minute flight. Poor Benson was soooo over tired on our drive home... but we made it and went to bed!
My parents live in the most incredible place. I am so jealous of their every day life and jealous that Benny gets to grow up here!
Tuesday -
I was up really early... so I got caught up on work, soaked in the tub, and watched Benny sleep. Once he was up we ate some amazing bread and took off on a golf cart ride that ended up putting him to sleep. :)
Benson discovered the dog door and enjoy playing at the pool! We got some dinner from a local food truck, peaches from the Farmer's Market, and captured some hilarious facial expressions while chatting with Logan! Grandma taught Benson how to use a whistle.
Damon noticed Benson's foot pop and remembered that my mom and Maddy both do that same thing. Crazy the similarities!
Wednesday -
My parents had a doctor's appointment in Panama City so Benson and I hung out at home. They brought home Hungry Howie's... my favorite! We played all day long! Bears, swimming, Poopdeck, and made some peach pies!
Back in St. Louis...
Logan flew out of STL late Wednesday night and stayed in a hotel near the airport.
Thursday -
Logan got some breakfast and took an Uber into Ann Arbor. They are staying at the dorms... lucky him!
Meanwhile in Florida...
Benson was on nap boycott... so around 1:30 we headed to the beach! We tried to get him to nap in his Ikea tent, but would only sleep if he was laying on top of me. I was sweating! He did a micro nap, and we played in the water. :)
We are loving music videos lately. It started with Garth Brooks, and now we are into Dan + Shay and Walker Hayes. An occasional Toby Keith or Alan Jackson. We are really educating Grandma and Grandpa!!
My mom spoils us with homemade noodles... My favorite! Late night swim, this kid LOVES the pool!
Back in Michigan...
Logan's classmates had all arrived, and they were hitting the town! It's a new world to explore once you've left a high-demand religion. Logan enjoys some bowling, a few drinks, and hanging out with his friends. He stayed out much longer than I could stay awake... and says he slept like a rock he was so tired!
Friday
Logan was up bright and early to go to a baking class! He was the only dude, but he had a great time making cheddar + ginger scones!
Florida
I woke up to the smell of fresh bread baking... YUM! Damon knocks it out of the park with this bread. My only request was to find some crab legs... so we tried a new place called Goatfeathers, and it was so good! Benson enjoyed the crab too! We wandered around the complex after and played some cornhole. :)

Logan attends a fancy masquerade dinner and has a great time!
Saturday
Damon makes sourdough pancakes! My mom tops them with lemon, sugar, and cream... an Aussie original. So good!
We have been dressing up all of the bears in Benson's clothes... he is loving it! Trying on Grandpa's cowboy hat!
We got ready and drove out to Farm and Fire for dinner. It was SO good, the key lime pie is out of this world!
Michigan -
Logan attends some lectors, visits some vendors, relaxes, and gets ready for a fun dinner at the Michigan stadium. They placed games down on the field and tried to kick some field goals. Tries an old fashion... paint thinner!
Sunday-
Bedhead, music videos, and tons of playing!
A quick trip to Carousel to grab some diapers and check for more peaches... none! We swing by Winn Dixie... none either! Our peach pies take 2 aren't going to happen!
Sunday dinner at Shaka! Benson was just digging in and enjoying my fried rice.
Playing with Grandpa, one last dip in the pool. I can't believe this has been our last full day here. It's gone by so fast.
Michigan-
Logan's last day! He attended some closing awards and grabbed some lunch with his friend Mike before taking a bus to the airport. His flight was a little delayed, but he made it home! He came home to Sanders Park being wrecked... we received more record rain and flash flooding while we were gone.
Monday -
Our last few hours! I just want to stay forever.. send me my husband! We grab some lunch at a Mexican place by Goatfeathers, which was so yummy!
Benson plays a little more, takes and a nap and is sad to wake up and see we are packing up. We installed a measuring stick and grab benny's height. Grandma says no more growing. :)
We started our drive to the airport in a huge rain storm... It's about an hour and fifteen minutes. By the end of it Benson was DONE!
We made it through security, and they announced there would be a slight delay from lightening. They finally start boarding and we board at the beginning. We got stuck in the most insane rain storm out on the tarmac while they were trying to wheel up people in wheelchairs. We were SOAKED!!
Once on the plane, they suspending boarding and closed the door. About 20 of us were trapped on the plane... soaking wet. We stayed this way for about 45 minutes. I had some guy help get down our suitcase so I could change Benny's clothes... and we waited! We finally resumed boarding... and then took another 45 minutes to take off! Benson slept the whole flight home, and it was the longest 1.20 hour flight of my life!
We were so happy to see Logan and be back together again. What a wonderful week for both of us! Ending the night with a little snack :)
