KELSEA + KENNY

After Kelsea Ballerini released her EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat I became obsessed. I thought it was so catchy and fun to listen to and I thought she would be incredible to see in concert. I did a quick search and saw she was touring with Kenny Chesney in some areas near St. Louis.

This was the first time ever that I had an idea cross my mind like this and think it actually might be a possibility. The past two years I haven't wanted to admit how bad I have had postpartum anxiety. I felt sick about everything, even worried about Logan taking Benson to the park. I wanted to be in control of everything.

I'm finally feeling more myself and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to take a small trip away with Logan. I asked my mom if she was available over the weekend of May 20th and she was all over it!

I decided on Evansville, Indiana - A 3 hour drive from St. Louis. I found center floor seats only a few rows back for $350 each and I jumped on it. I was SO excited. The hotels in Evansville were INSANE and somehow I stumbled across a cute little AirBnB in Newburgh, about 15 minutes away.

The countdown was officially on!

Thursday

My mom flew in the Thursday before and we were so excited to play with her! Benson FaceTimes her every single day and so he knows exactly who she is... "Grammy".

Friday

Benson has been loving trains and has been begging to go back to the "tunnel". We loaded up and headed off to the Zoo! I have NO idea what was going on, but every single person in Missouri was at the Zoo. The line to park was wild and the streets were full of cars bumper to bumper. We quickly decided that wasn't going to work and rerouted to Costco.

Once Logan got home we quickly packed and hit the road. Grammy took off with Benson to the park so we wouldn't have a dramatic exit. The drive was full of wild rain storms, but we arrived safely to the cutest little cabin.

Saturday

I haven't had a full nights sleep in 3 years. Between pregnancy and having Benson there hasn't been a lot of sleeping. :) It felt so wonderful!

We went off exploring Newburgh and it was the cutest town I have ever seen. Everything is in walking distance and it is right on the Ohio River. We grabbed some breakfast from Cleo's and went shopping. :) Can you believe how cute these tiny chairs are?! Both of them for $35!!

We needed a break so we went back to our cabin and relaxed for a few hours until we were hungry for lunch. Benny was having the time of his life!

We walked to the Landing and WOW. I haven't had that good of a dining experience in years. Everything was amazing! I would go back to Newburgh just for this!

Back at the cabin we watched an episode of 20/20... something we haven't done in years. This is one of my favorite pastimes :) We got ready for the concert and hit the road! I was planning on wearing a sparkly sequined dress, but had to switch it to this cute jumper I bought today!

We were able to snag the last parking spot near the Ford Center and headed to our seats. They were incredible!

Kelsea started at 7:30 sharp and played for an hour. I could have listened to her all night. It was sooo good!

Kenny came on about 8:45 and the man does not stop moving! He was an animal running around and signing one song after another for hours and hours. Old Dominion showed up and surprised him, and he sang a few songs with Kelsea.

As he was coming back for an encore, I was done. I needed to pump so bad and my feet were going to fall off! Logan tried to sneak out and the lady next to him was very disappointed we were leaving. Sorry Linda. :)

Sunday

Two nights in a row of full sleep is incredible! :) We packed up and hit the road. We tried Bojangles in Mt. Vernon on our way home and that may have been the worst fast food we have ever ever ever had.

Benson was SO excited to see us and we were SO excited to see him! He had a great time with Grammy. :)
