Fixer upper
Finding out we would be spending 3 more years in St. Louis has sprung us into adding or redoing a few things in our home. Some for aesthetics, some for functionality and it has been so fun!
One major downfall of our kitchen is no pantry space. It's been annoying each time we get groceries rearranging and finding a place for everything. Black friday brought a very nice storage cabinent to go in our laundry room for extra groceries, and other odds + ends storage.
There have been these ridiculous shelves hanging over our windows in our bedroom. They make it impossible to hang a curtain rod so for the last two years we have been using a tension rod. It's worked fine... but nothing we want to keep dealing with for years to come. Logan quickly knocked them down, painted the frames and hung up some curtain rods. So much better!
The next task was this book shelf in Benson's room. It's bulky, and kind of ghetto. We started brainstorming ideas... a few trips to Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart it was all torn down and rebuilt beautifully! We are still working on filling it in.
This sparked an idea to look at the fireplace mantle. The paint has been bubbling and chipping all over. They did not prepare anything correctly before painting over it, so it all came right off. Our original plan was to sand and restain it... but after some Pinterest searches we decided to rebuild the mantle and paint the fireplace blue! As we uncovered everything there was a terrifying little mouse skeleton!! We did it all in one evening and still can't stop looking at it!!
Who knows what's next? Small little projects that have made big differences!
