Fairhope
May 2023
Logan was sitting in a meeting listening to Dr. Rick O’Neil present for 3M. He mentioned he was from Fairhope, Alabama… located in the gulf coast, and they were looking for another doctor to join their private practice. Logan did a few google searches and was very interested.
After the presentation Logan exchanged numbers and planned to meet up in August.
August 2023
We spent our fall break at my mom’s house in PCB. Logan had arranged to spend a day in Daphne so we stayed a few days in Pensacola, about an hour away. Logan drove up to shadow Rick and met the other doctor, Shane Langley at dinner.
We talked on the drive home and there was just a spark of something there. We made plans to come back as a family in October to spend some time together.
October 11
Logan got home from school and we hit the road! We had a hotel booked in Memphis - about a 4 hour drive away.
We got to the hotel and went to sleep. We had two queen beds and I was worried about Benson rolling off so all night I was holding onto him. At one point he woke up and as I sat up to adjust he threw himself right off the bed onto his head. I was sick about it! The rest of the night I held onto his feet. The next morning he had a nice goose egg. Ugh!
October 12
We had about 7 hours of drive time without stops ahead of us so we hit the road! We made a few stops on the way and took quite the route there weaving through Mississippi.
We arrived a little after 3 and thankfully our room was ready early! We went and checked in. This place is incredible! They put us up at The Grand. It was very grand. :)
We ordered some room service, walked around and went to the pool!
We finished putting together our baskets for them and hit the hay!
October 13
Logan was off early to work with Shane. Benson and I had plans to meet up with the wives later… so first we went on a bike ride!
We had a great time meeting Marjorie + Elisabeth. We saw the Fairhope Office, grabbed some lunch, chatted and got ice cream with their youngest kids.
We headed back to the hotel, napped and got ready for dinner. The boys were still in Mobile, so we drove over together and met at the restaurant. We had a great meal, beautiful views, and conversation came easy. (and Benson did so good!)
October 14
The next day we spent the morning at the hotel. This hotel is incredible and Benson is in heaven!
We went and got some food, napped and went over to Rick + Marjorie’s house for lunch and football. Benson was ready to move in with all of their toys!
We all went back to the hotel to watch the sunset and play lawn games. It was a great way to end a wonderful few days together. The boys went off to dinner and we all said goodbye.
October 15
Our last morning we enjoyed the views, ate some delicious breakfast, drove past the Fairhope office, and started our drive to Memphis. A wonderful few days with an exciting future.
